"We were made to fit together."--City of Angels

It has been one tiring week so far.  These last two days I attended a training course for work, and it was definitely tiring mentally.  Tomorrow I get to go back to my usual job, and I'm really looking forward to it!

My title quote does have a little significance tonight.  I can't stress enough how much I love and adore my family.  Darren and I still try to go on dates whenever we can....it's really something we enjoy, and probably always will.  We've decided to go on a date this weekend, and I can't wait!!  We invited my brother and Kinzey to go along too, so it should be a good time.We are going to do a little shopping, go see the new "Transformers" flick, and probably go eat some lunch or dinner depending on what time we head down to Bloomington.  I'll miss my little love bug, but sometimes it's really nice to be able to get out without hafting to lug around the stroller.  Plus, I always feel bad for getting Ryder in and out of the car when we go shopping.  I tend to go to a lot of different stores, and I can always tell when he's had enough of being hauled around.  But, on the contrary, it's nice to have my little family together out and about. :)  It's just like the quote, "we were made to fit together."  I feel like that is true with all of my family.  Not to mention, this quote comes from a movie I really enjoy: "City of Angels."  It has a terribly sad ending, but I still love it!

Me, Darren and Ryder went for another little walk tonight.  It was nice to get out and enjoy the evening, even if it's a little too warm for my liking.

I have two pictures that I wanted to share.  I took them last night after I posted my blog, so I didn't get the chance to share them at that point.

These both just melt my heart.  He is such a little cuddle bug. :)

Well, that's all for tonight.  Sorry I don't have anything more exciting.  I will have an update on my weight loss in the next coming posts.  I will say, it is still going very well.  I am getting closer and closer to hitting my next goal!!

Have a great night, and thanks for reading!

"I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way."--Who Framed Roger Rabbit

There is absolutely no significance with my title this evening....I just really like that movie.  It's an oldie but goodie.

Since we have yet to fix the tiling on our bathtub, we've been having to use our other shower.  Ryder can still use the bathtub portion, but before we knew what the exact issue was, we weren't using the tub at all.  So, I have some cute pictures of Ryder getting his bath in the sink.  You do what you gotta' do, right? :)

I thought those pictures were adorable.  I have one more to share.
Ryder fell asleep on the floor after playing with some of his toys.  His paci fell out, and he is completely zonked!

I feel like zonking out myself.  Me, Darren and Ryder went for a nice long walk this evening.  It was nice, but it wore me out.

Have a good rest of the night, and thanks for reading!

"There's no place like home."--The Wizard of Oz

Hello all!  So, I just have two things I wanted to update everyone on.

First off, my baby boy just sat himself up all by himself!! He was scooting around on his knees, turned to look at me, smiled, and sat himself up.  I am so proud of him!  Also, he is so close to crawling.  We could probably technically consider what he does now as crawling, but, I won't officially annouce anything until he figures out how to move his legs and hands in the crawling motion.  He does pretty good now, but he hasn't quite gotten it down yet.

Second, we had someone come look at our leak in our dining room.  The culprit was our upstairs bathtub.  At first, the guy wanted to put a hole in our dining room wall and ceiling, but luckily, he discovered that the issue was just with some loose tiling around the tub.  There are no leaking pipes and nothing is seriously wrong...just those few tiles.  That is a load off of my mind!  So, this whole situation has inspired me to re-do my bathroom.  :)  I will definitely be posting before and after pictures for this project.   I can tell the bathroom hasn't been updated for a looooong time....

So, I guess it's like the quote says, there's no place like home!!

Have a good evening, and thanks for reading!!!

"I feel the need - the need for speed!"--Top Gun

Ok, I know "Top Gun" is an extremely cheesy movie, but I still like it.  It still breaks my heart every time I watch the scene when Goose dies...so sad!

Last night was Kara's bachelorette party, and it was a B L A S T!!!  I can't remember the last time I went out with the girls, let alone go out, and it was so much fun!  Below are some of the pictures of the evening.  :)
 The future Mrs. Spenard! :)

 Me and Sarah
All of us girls after eating a delicious meal and enjoying grande margaritas!!

Bride-to-be and the maid of honor! They are also sisters :)
This was a funny sign in the bathroom at Kicks.  It's too bad you can't see the smaller print underneath each picture.  It was hilarious!
I had to have it documented that I was drinking, otherwise no one would have believed me.  That's how much of a square I am!
The bridesmaids at Merna Tap in Merna!
Sarah, Kara and myself in the limo
Me and Sarah at Strawn bar!  This is the last picture I had documented of the evening on my camera.  I forgot to get my camera out to take more pictures after this.

So, that was the evening.  I have more pictures that I took, but I really didn't feel the need to post all of them on here.  I may post most of them on Facebook if I get the time.  It was nice having a night out with everyone, but I was SO happy to this face this morning....
I missed my little pumpkin!

Also, nothing jets you back to reality then realizing your dining room ceiling is leaking.....wonder how much that's going to cost.

Everyone have a good Sunday, and thanks for reading.

"Houston - we have a problem."--Apollo 13

My title does hold some significance this morning....

So, I had to do a quick post because it was a rather traumatic morning...ok, not really, I just blow things out of proportion, especially when it comes to my little guy.  This post is about "oh no!" mommy moments thus far.

My very first "oh no!" mommy moment was when I was clipping his fingernails when he was maybe 6 weeks old, he moved, and I got a portion of his finger.  It started to bleed, he bawled, I bawled...ugh!  It was awful....

I had my second "oh no!" mommy moment this morning.  Ryder was sitting in his crib, fell forward, and smacked his forehead against the side of his crib.  And this was no little tap---it was HARD!! The poor little guy immediately started bawling, but only cried for about 30 seconds.  This was the first time he's ever hit his head really hard on something.  Of course, he occasionally falls backward while trying to sit up on his own, and hits the back of his head on the blanket he's sitting on....but this was completely different.

As you can see from the pictures, he is completely fine.  He did have a red mark on his forehead from where he hit it against the crib, but it went away.  I really hope he doesn't get a bruise. This probably effected me more than him, but that's what it's like being a mom.  I am definitely very protective over him!

That is all for now.  Have a good Saturday! Thanks for reading!! :)

"We came, we saw, we kicked its ass."---Ghostbusters

I love "Ghostbusters"....both of them actually.  Bill Murray is so hilarious in such a subtle way, especially in these movies.  All of the characters are hilarious!  If you've never seen "Ghostbusters", well, I wouldn't know what to say.  It's a classic!!

So, today was a good day.  I went in to work a little early today, and got off around 3:30, and came straight home to pick up Ryder and Darren to go to the store.  Jeffro's cookout was tonight, so I wanted to make sure I got the grocery shopping done before we went there, because there is no way I'll have time to go tomorrow.  I have some errands to run in the morning, then I will be gone the rest of the day/night for Kara's bachelorette party!!

Anyway, we stopped by Jeffro's cookout for a little bit.  It was nice to visit with everyone.  The food was good too!  Kinzey (Jeff's girlfriend) and I decided we are going to get together more often for "girl" time, since Jeffro likes to have his racing/"man" time, and Darren has times when he wants to do his "manly" things.  I think it's a great idea!  We can watch awesome movies, go shopping, and do whatever else we see fit.  I can't wait until our first girl date!

I took some pictures at the cookout tonight, and thought I would share them.
 Ryder with Grandma Potter

 Ryder looks mad....uh oh...
I think he's had enough of me!
I decided to give him kisses anyway!

Grandpa was kissing by Ryder's ear....Ryder wasn't sure what to think about this
So, he just decided to grab Grandpa's face instead!

We would have stayed at the cookout a bit longer, but you know how it goes...have to get the little one fed and up to bed at his scheduled time.  More people were supposed to arrive at the cookout, but it was after we had already left.

Have a nice Saturday tomorrow!! I will be posting pictures of the bachelorette party (hopefully, if I remember my camera!)  Thanks for reading!

"Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'. (That's goddamn right.)"--The Shawshank Redemption

My title movie quote is from one of my all time favorite movies..."The Shawshank Redemption."  If you've never seen this one, I highly recommend it!!  It has an amazing cast and has a really great story..I just love it!  It's definitely in my top five favorites, and that's saying a lot, because I love so many different movies.  I love this particular quote too.  I think it's so true!

This week has been tiring, and I decided to blame it on the weather.  I had a terrible headache when I got home from work last night, so after I got done making dinner and eating, I went upstairs to lay down. Thank you Darren for letting me go upstairs early!!! I ended up going to sleep around 6:30!  Darren woke me up around 8, and the headache was still there.  As soon as he left the room, I passed out, and didn't wake up until 4am because of a dream, then I went back to sleep until my alarm.  I must've needed the extra Zzzz's.  I still had a slight headache today, but thankfully it has gone away.  This weather is so stupid, so I can only assume it is the culprit to my head and neck pain recently.  Oh well, I live in Illinois...that's how it goes!

How is my weight loss journey?  It's going awesome!!  As I said in my previous post, I am on my way to my next goal.  It's getting so close I can taste it.  I'm so thankful that this has gone so well.  I think my attitude has a lot to do with it.  I try to stay positive, even when the scale isn't showing what I want it to.  Of course, I have my bad days too, but who doesn't?  I have been walking a lot, and that helps too.  As you all know, I am doing Weight Watchers online, which I absolutely love.  I log everything I eat, everyday.  It helps me stay focused and holds me accountable for the whole process.  I feel tons better already, and I know I can continue on this road, because it's definitely a better one.

Ryder is getting SO CLOSE to crawling.  He gets so frustrated when he can't get to where he wants to quickly, but I'm sure that'll change soon.  He's figured out that one knee can go in front of the other, so now all he needs to figure out is how to move his hands along with his legs.  My little man is getting so big.  I'm excited about all of the new things to come, but I'm also a little sad.  Time is going way too fast!

Here is a video that I've been meaning to post.  It is of Ryder in his jumperoo.  Darren is standing in front of him, just smiling, and Ryder can help but squeal and smile.  Sorry, it's a bit dark...but you can still see him and hear him. :)

video

Well, I hope the rest of the week goes by quick.  Friday night we have Jeff and Kinzey's cookout, and then Saturday I have Kara's bachelorette party!! It should be a fun weekend.

Everyone have a good rest of the week, and thanks for reading!

"And in the morning, I'm making waffles!"--Shrek

My title quote this evening is from the movie "Shrek."  All of those movies are absolutely hilarious, but for some reason, I always remember this quote.  Me and my dad would always laugh our butts off at this particular scene.  I LOVE IT!

So, this weekend was great.  Me, mom, and Ryder went shopping in Bloomington on Saturday and found some great bargains.  Almost everything I bought was one sale!  I completely forgot that Bath and Body Works' semi-annual sale is going on, so when I walked in, I was ecstatic!  Twice a year during these sales they bring back all of the discontinued scents, which happen to be some of my favorites, and sell them dirt cheap.  I bought five things and didn't even spend $20.  There were other great sales going on in Baby Gap and Kohls, so all in all, it was a good day in the mall.  We went a few other places, then headed home for the day.

Today is Father's Day, so let me start by saying HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of the dads, especially my own!!  And, a very happy first Father's Day to Darren!!  I think both of these guys enjoyed their gifts!  It was great just being able to spend time with family today.  We went down to mom and dad's for a cookout, and my aunt and uncle were there to spend time with us as well.  After we got home, Darren's mom and his grandma and grandpa came over, so it was a great day with family.  Below are two pictures: one of me and dad; and one of Darren and Ryder in honor of Father's Day.
Me and dad a few years ago. :)  I like this picture a lot!
This is one of my favorite pictures of Darren and Ryder

So, yesterday when I was talking about my weight loss, I fibbed a little bit without knowing I was fibbing.  Turns out, my scale is not accurate...AT ALL!! Darren and I both tested it with the new one I bought, and it was weighing a couple of pounds heavy.   I am proud to annouce that I have met my first weight watchers goal, and have surpassed it by 3 pounds!!!  YAY!  Once I hit my next goal, I will probably let everyone  in on the secret of how much I have lost.  I will say this:  I bought a couple pairs of new capris, and they are still big on me, so it looks like I will have to buy another size smaller. :)
I will leave you with a picture I took of my little man today.  He is sitting up all by himself, his hair is a hot mess, but he still looks adorable. :)
He's getting so big!

That's all for tonight.  Have a good rest of the night, and thanks for reading!

"Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you."---Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

I LOVE STAR WARS!!! I am a geek and proud of it!  My title quote is from one of the newer Star Wars movies: The Phantom Menace.  It was the first one to be released many years after "Return of the Jedi."  My favorite Star Wars movie is "The Empire Strikes Back."  I think a viewing of this one may be in order in the very near future....

This week went by surprisingly quick.  I got off a few hours early yesterday for some appointments Darren and I had set up, then spent the rest of the night eating some Monicals and watching "Grey's Anatomy."  It was a busy yet relaxing day.  Today, me, mom and Ryder are going to Bloomington to do some...you guessed it...shopping.  Hopefully I don't go too overboard, but we'll see I guess.  So, that leaves Darren home all by himself.  I can already predict what he will spend his day doing:  playing his beloved XBox.  He is trying to get a 100% on this one game....so I'm sure he'll spend the majority of the day trying to achieve that.  It looks like it's going to rain today, otherwise I'd nicely suggest he spend his day out in the yard getting it prepped for us to tackle our landscaping project.  I may still suggest this.... :) in a nice way of course.

So, my little man has recently discovered the power of his lungs.  Instead of whining/screeching a little bit, he has started to full out scream/cry when he is put down from being held, or when I can't get him his food fast enough.  He has been squealing when he's happy for quite some time, but not at this magnitude.  I can't help but laugh when he does these things.  He's learning so much, and is becoming quite the handful!

The weight loss is going G R E A T!!!  I am 1 pound away from my weight watchers goal I personally set for myself.  I am so excited to be this close!!  I still have more to lose, but I am very motivated to keep going and strive for more.  I finally broke down and ordered some new capris and some new tops.  I tried to get some work pants (I have to dress in business casual or relaxed business attire everyday) but they didn't have any in the size I needed....so I will wait on those and continue to look like MC Hammer everday..."Can't touch this!"

I will leave you with a picture of my little man.  He is basically the only person that gets his picture taken anymore... :)
In this one he is sacked out with his Elmo.  I thought it was precious!  I hope everyone has a good day, and thanks for reading!!

"My precious."--Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

My quote this evening really doesn't hold any significance to my post...I just really love Lord of the Rings.  I could watch them over, and over, and over, well, you get the idea.

So, today was a pretty good day...for the most part.

It started out fine.  I got a nice walk in at work this morning, which made me feel amazing!  Plus, they have our usual stairwell closed at work for some maintenance, so I have been walking extra through the building to get to my desk.  I may just do that from here on out.  Someone at work actually made fun of me today for how I was walking around.  He said it looked like I was "on a mission."  Well, I am on a mission: to lead a healthier lifestyle.  This whole experience is not just about the weight loss for me.  It's ultimately about feeling better, and getting myself on a track where I always feel like a winner.  Of course, the weight loss is a very nice incentive, but, it's not all about that.  I constantly have to remind myself of that, because it's really very easy to lose sight of the importance of why I am doing what I'm doing.

So, anyway, I had to go to my dermatologist today to discuss my regimen for my psoraisis.  Basically, I am going to continue what I've been doing: using a very expensive steroid/vitamin D cream combo, and hoping that it helps.  I really wish there was a cure for this....and no, it's not contagious.  It's something I've lived with since I can remember, and I'm sure I will always live with it.  I've come to the conclusion that it will always be a part of me...and that's ok.

There was a minor issue that unfolded once I got home which caused me to have a small melt down, but it's all good.  It has nothing to do with Darren or Ryder, just something I was made aware of that I really didn't like.  GRRR! :)  I will not go into details, because I really don't want to be negative...

Anyway, that's enough of the complaining.  I really hope this week goes by as quick as last week.  I am working a half day on Friday, then I have a few errands to run, then hopefully we can actually get some work done in our yard.  I also have some Netflix movies I could sit down and watch.....but we'll see.  Maybe I'll just send them back.  I have had them since February...haha.

Well, that's all for tonight.  I will leave you with two pictures I thought were absolutely precious...

Ryder fell asleep on the floor, so Mickey cuddled up on the blanket and snuggled against Ryder's feet.  In the last picture, MoMo just had to join in on the love. That's all for now....thanks for reading!!!

"My Mama always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get."--Forrest Gump

So, my title has a little bit of meaning behind it....you really never know what you're gonna get.  I've really started to relate to this quote lately, with the main reason dealing with my little man.  Let me explain:

One minute, he is a happy go-lucky baby.  He is all smiles, and laughing and giggling like crazy.  The next minute, he is screaching at the top of his lungs, or whining and rolling around on the floor.  He is really starting to get quite the personality on him.  He's in the stage right now where he throws an absolute fit if you put him down, take a toy away, or leave the room that he's in.  It's not real crying; there are no tears.  He is just whining, and then looks at you to see if he's caught your attention, and if you leave him where he is, he starts whining and screaching again.  I think most of it is his frustration.  He wants to crawl so bad, but he hasn't quite gotten it figured out yet.  He will hop forward and scoot, but then fall back down on his belly.  I think within the next couple of weeks, he will be a crawling monster, and hopefully that will take away some of his frustration.  I think another huge part is teething.  He already has one tooth, and when it finally broke through, he cried for 3 hours straight.  He has been very clingy and irritable lately, just like he acted when he got his first tooth.  So, I can definitely see some more teeth pushing through in the next month or two.

This is Ryder playing with his new race track.  He was not in a good mood, and really didn't enjoy this too much.  He was actually scared of it at first.

Please don't misunderstand my post.  I am not complaining AT ALL!!!  Everyone, including babies, have difficult days where they may be more crabby than normal.  I just think it's funny how fast their attitude's develop and change.  Ryder is such a wonderfuly joy in my life; I couldn't ask for a better baby!!!  I just love him to pieces!

We introduced a few new things this weekend: mixed fruits and veggies, Puff snacks, and a sippy cup.  He loves the mixed foods, but he is not sure what to think of the other new items.  Here are two pictures, one of him trying Puffs, and one of the first encounter with the sippy cup.  Both will take some getting used to for him, but he does really well with new things, so I'm sure he will be enjoying both in no time.

Well, that's about it for tonight.  Try to have a wonderful Monday tomorrow, and thanks for reading! :)
