"I'm like a bad penny, I always turn up."--Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

My title quote is from a pretty good movie, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."  It's my favorite one out of all of them.

I guess it's time to bring this busy weekend to a close.  My post will mostly be of pictures of our weekend.

Saturday we went down to Bloomington to attend the wedding of Michael Palen and Samantha Carber, who is now Samantha Palen!! :)  Congratulations to the newlyweds!! The wedding was beautiful, the bride was gorgeous, and it was a lot of fun!

"Impressive. Most impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well. You have controlled your fear. Now, release your anger. Only your hatred can destroy me."--Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back"

You know, since I’ve started this blog, I’ve made it blatantly clear that I’m a movie fanatic.  However, I have not shared what some of my personal favorites are….and yes, favorites is plural, because it is absolutely impossible for me to pick just one favorite.  So, since my blog titles have been movie quotes for some time, I thought I’d let you into my mind a little bit and list what some of my favorites are and why.  I have a feeling I will need to have similar posts like this to convey a lot of movies I consider to be a “favorite”.

In no particular order….

“The Shawshank Redemption”—This movie is actually based off of a book.  I haven’t had the pleasure in reading this one, and I have only seen the movie.  It is absolutely fantastic!  If you like Morgan Freeman, you will like this movie.  He and Tim Robbins portray their characters so well; they make you feel what they feel, and think how they think.  It’s a must-see for sure!

“American History X”—Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors.  He is extremely versatile, just like my other favorite actor (he will be revealed later J).  If you’ve seen Edward Norton in other movies, then you know he is usually a scrawny little dork of a guy, like in “Rounders.”  Not in this movie…he is a buff bad ass.  You will hate his character in certain parts, but then love his character in other parts.  It’s such a strong, emotional, and controversial movie.  I.  LOVE.  IT.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”—My ultimate favorite actor, Johnny Depp, stars in this one as the famous Captain Jack Sparrow.  I really like all three of the movies in this series (I have yet to see the newest one, but I heard it’s not up to par with these) but “Dead Man’s Chest” is my favorite one.  I love how they did the Davy Jones character….everything seemed pretty authentic.  Not to mention, Johnny Depp is a brilliant actor and does an amazing job in this role…and all roles he’s cast as in movies.

“Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”—I’m sure you’re all sick and tired of me talking about “Star Wars.”  Well, tough! J  I love all of them (the older ones at least).  They bring out the true sci-fi dork in me, and I love every bit of it!  This is the best “Star Wars” installment out of all six in my opinion.  I really like movies that end on a downer for some strange reason.  I just think it’s sometimes more realistic….life isn’t always flowers and unicorns, you know?  Plus, this one is jam packed with Chewbacca, which is awesome!

“Lord of the Rings: Return of the King”—Ok, so I know that this installment of LOTR is very, very long…and it has 3 or 4 possible ending moments….but all of that doesn’t change the fact that this is ONE BRILLIANT MOVIE!!  All three of these movies are incredible, but this one stands out just a little more for me.  The battle scenes are unreal; the concepts are great…this movie is fantastic!

“Harry Potter and” ….crap, I can’t pick just one—I can’t pick just one of these, because I love all of them for different reasons.  They started out childish and innocent with a few dark moments, and ended with no childish and/or innocent moments and had a very dark demeanor about them.  I don’t have to choose a favorite, because this is my blog and I say I don’t have to pick…. J

“The Dark Knight”—Please don’t call me a sell out for this one!  Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker is what makes this movie great.  That’s all I really need to say…..

“Father of the Bride Part 1 AND 2”—These movies are my quilty pleasure.  I have seen each one dozens of times, and they never get old.  They are hilarious in a tender sort of way.  The way Steve Martin’s character relates to his daughter makes me look at the relationship I have with my own dad….they are similar in certain ways.  These are movies that are an easy kind of entertaining, which I really enjoy on some days.

Well, that is where I will leave this post for now.  I will do this again sometime, because if you know me at all, you know that this doesn’t even scrape the surface of movies I enjoy, and consider a favorite.  When I think of what movies could be my favorites, I go with the ones that I think of immediately.  The way I look at it is, I thought of those first for a reason, so there ya’ go.

Have a good Thursday night all, and thanks for reading!!

"When you love someone, you've gotta trust them. There's no other way. You've got to give them the key to everything that's yours. Otherwise, what's the point? And for a while, I believed, that's the kind of love I had."--Casino

My title quote tonight is from an EXCELLENT movie: "Casino."  It was one of my favorite "mob based" movies, along with "Goodfellas."  Both movies star Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, and they play the mob roles so well.  If you have close to 3 hours to spare, I highly recommend "Casino."  You will not be disappointed.

Well, there isn't too much to report tonight.  Last night I was so exhausted and had a bad headache for some reason, so I went upstairs and crashed early.  Tonight I feel much better, but I am still ready for bed.  I'm such an old fart....I can't believe I'm ready for bed and it's not even 7:30 yet....oh well.

So, Ryder has started to pull himself up onto different the coffee table, the ottoman, one of our movie cases, the baby gate, the TV get the idea.  He is a crawling disaster!!  I'm happy that he is growing and learning and becoming stronger, but it scares me so much!  I can't help but be a little over-protective of my little guy.

Here is a picture of him I thought was really cute..
He loves his daddy :)

I apologize I don't have anything more interesting to discuss.  We have a wedding and a bday party to go to this weekend, so I'm sure I'll have some pictures to share.

Have a good rest of the night, and thanks for reading!

"Times like these, dark times, they do funny things to people. They can tear them apart."--Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Agh, it's already Sunday.  The weekends always go by way too fast.  However, I can tell I am going to enjoy this particular Sunday.  It's a gloomy, rainy day, which makes for great cuddling and movie watching. :)  I think I'll try to take it easy today...but we'll see how that goes.

My title quote really needs no explanation. I've mentioned quite a few times before that I love "Harry Potter" and I love this quote, so it seemed appropriate. :)
Yesterday I went and got my hair cut and highlighted.  Here is what it looks like...
I just got a little trim and got it thinned out.  My hair is very very thick, so it feels much better now!

I got some highlights put in as well.  I really love my new 'do!

A good one of least Ryder is smiling...if only it was at the camera

I've noticed the flash is too bright sometimes for Ryder's eyes

After I got home from my hair appt, we ran over to Pontiac for a few things, then decided it would be a good afternoon to go swimming.  Once we got home from Pontiac, we got ready and went over to Lisa's for a quick swim.
Me and Ryder in the pool.  His hat is too looks like a pirate hat...haha

My son, the pirate...haha

He was having a really good time!

His hat got all wet!

He loved splashing around

My little swimmer :)

Ryder after getting out of his little swimmer, swim trunks and shirt.

He was happy to be dry and have a fresh diaper on.

After our swimming adventure we came home and tried to relax.  However, that consisted of me making Special K bars for a special treat for Darren, and taco soup for dinner.  It was a busy day, but it was a lot of fun!

Today, I already have most of the laundry done, and I am making homemade turkey and noodles in the crockpot later for dinner. YUM!

Have a good Sunday everyone, and thanks for reading!!

"No one will surrender tonight, but I won't give in. I know what I want."--Twilight

My title quote is from "Twilight."  The movies are decent....not the greatest. However, I could sit down and watch all of them in a row and be completely satisfied, so that counts for something.  The movies have gotten better and better as the series progresses.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the books!!  It's probably one of my favorite book series; I was engulfed while reading them.  I still like "Harry Potter" more, but the "Twilight" books rank pretty high on my list of faves as well. :)

Today was a pretty good day.  It's still too warm for my liking....which is why I don't understand on two of the hottest days this week I decided to run out on my lunch and tan.  I figured it would be the last thing on my mind this warm week, but really, it relaxed me.  Both days I dozed off while it was nice to get out of the office for a while.

I've been bad this past week and the week prior about pre-making my lunches.  I normally either take a salad from home, or make a very healthy version of macaroni salad, potato salad or chicken salad.  It is then carefully measured out into the correct portion size.  Yeeeeeaaaahhh, that hasn't happened lately.  Here is what my lunch was today....
Yes, I am the dork that takes pictures of my lunch, and I don't care.  This salad is AMAZING!!  Trust me, it looks like a lot of ranch, but there is a lot of green yummy goodness underneath.  You may also notice a lot of croutons.  They are homemade, and delicious.  It probably isn't the healthiest salad, but at least it's not a greasy burger and fries.  Ick! Work has a fantastic salad bar!! This is not my typical salad.  My salads usually consist of two cups of premium romaine lettuce, and two tablespoons of fat free dressing.  Nothing else.  It gets old very quick!

Tonight we went over to Grandpa and Grandma Stephen's house for dinner.  Lisa, Daniel and Aunt Diane were there, along with family friends from Austria.  It was good food with great people.  It was nice to see everyone.  Little man was getting cranky around 7:30, so we left, came home, fed him and put him to bed.  Now, I plan to relax with the hubby, maybe eat a little ice cream, and hit the hay.

I keep forgetting to update everyone on my weight loss....sorry.  I am 3 pounds away from my second goal.  It's been a bit more difficult this past week with the craziness, but I have not gained anything, and still managed to lose, so that's a plus.  I'm not going to stress out about it, and just take it day by day.

Oh yeah, Darren and I are discussing buying a camper in the future.  We are thinking of looking at the pull behind travel trailers...well, I suppose you get the idea.  If anyone has any suggestions on a camper/a good type of vehicle to haul it with, I'm all ears!!
Have a good night, and thanks for reading!!
