Happy Halloween

Ryder has something to say to all of you....

"Get me outta' this stupid thing..."

"Happy Halloween!"

So, we had a pretty difficult time finding a costume this year.  Last year, he was Darth Vader and we wanted to stay within that same realm,  but in all honesty, the costumes looked cheap, and we couldn't find anything that lived up to last years awesome-ness.  So, we decided on this cute lion number.  I have dubbed him the 'Cowardly Lion' from the 'Wizard of Oz.'

I'll leave you with more costume pics.  In order for him to pose so I could take these pictures, we had to bribe him with chocolate.  Cookies n' cream chocolate bars to be exact.  We do what we must, right? ;-)  When I got this backdrop, I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but after seeing it here, I am IN LOVE with it! :-)  SO happy I decided to keep it!

See---he has a piece of chocolate in his mouth in this one.  Bribing at it's best.

I think the head-piece may be a bit too big for his little noggin'.

Happy Halloween! :-)

October Favorites

I'm pretty sure I forgot to post a favorites list last month.  Whoops.  I'm probably the only person that noticed this, and that's ok.  No hatin' here. ;-)

This list is going to be fun.  Well, as fun as a list can be.

Garnier - Fructis - Fall Fight Fortifying ShampooGarnier - Fructis - Fall Fight Fortifying Conditioner
Over the past few months, I had a rough time with my hair.  It was falling out....and not the amount I am used to losing over a day/week/month.  My hair was thinning, not growing as it usually did, and I was losing a ton of strands each day.  I have been using this shampoo over the past month or two, and I've gotta' say, it's worked wonders on my hair!  It's fuller and thicker, and it's started growing back at it's normal speed.  I lose less strands each day as well, so my scalp is super happy.  Plus, it smells heavenly.  Try this stuff!
I tend to go through spurts with my chocolate/candy consumption.  This month, I have been stuffing my face with the cookies n' cream, yo.  In fact, I have my little porkies wrapped around one of these as we speak.
Crock-Pot® Smart-Pot® Slow Cooker
Crock Pot stuff
I have been all about the crock pot this month.  I don't always have the time available to dedicate to cooking a meal at night. Enter: crock pot goodness.  You can make anything in the crock pot.  I love the crap out of mine!
Netflix shows, man
I get off of work, I go home, I edit, I cook/prepare/serve/order/eat dinner, and then sit my happy arse down to watch some Netflix.  Seriously, they have tons of awesome shows to choose from!  And, since I have instant streaming through the Xbox and the Wii, the process is so simple.  It sure beats having to get up and put in a new DVD/Blu-Ray.  (Yes, I realize I just said that.  Whatevs....)

I think that may be it for this edition of "Sara's Rambling Chronicles--Favorite Crap."

Have a good day, peeps!

Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole

I've had a few requests asking that I share my recipe for the cheesy hashrown casserole I make.  To be quite honest, there really isn't a recipe I follow at all.  I kind of just throw the ingredients together, no measuring.  This is a common dish among a bunch of my friends/family, but I think we all make it a bit different.

I actually made it yesterday, so I figured I would snap a few pictures documenting the process so you would all get some idea of how I make it.  Please excuse the was weird.

First off, let me say that I LOVE this side dish.  However, it's not the healthiest, so beware. ;-)

Here's your cast of characters: EVOO, hashbrowns, shredded cheese, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and an onion.  Please use your imagination and visualize garlic powder, butter and salt and pepper with this gang of goodies.

Chop up your onion.  A rough chop/dice is complete fine.

Drizzle some EVOO in your skillet.  Turn the heat up to medium.

Saute the onion for a few minutes, until it starts to soften.  Lower the heat to about medium low.

Add in the entire can of ceam of chicken soup...

And about a cup of sour cream, give or take.

Give it a good stir.

Add in some garlic powder and salt and pepper for good measure and give it another stir.  Reduce the heat to low and let that mixture hang out a bit.

Melt about 4 TBSP of butter, and pour it over your thawed hashbrowns.  Stir it up to coat the hasbrowns with the butter.

Pour the soup/sour cream/onion mixture over the hashbrowns.

Give it a good stir so the mixture coats the hashbrowns entirely.

Add in some cheese please. :-)  About 2 cups.  Use any cheese you'd like.  Cheddar is good in this.  I happened to have Colby Jack cheese on hand so I used that, and sprinkled in some shredded parmesan.

Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray, and spread the casserole mixture evenly throughout the dish.

Sprinkle some more parmesan cheese over the top.  Again, use any kind of cheese you like.  Any additional cheese over the top is good, right?!

Put the casserole in a 375* oven for about 45 minutes.

I did some hanging out in the kitchen until this was done.

Ryder was chillin', eating some snacks.

I marveled at the sunset coming through my kitchen window.  Ok...I didn't marvel too long, just long enough to snap this pic and call it a day. ;-)

Before I knew it 45 minutes had passed and it was time to take this beauty out of the oven.

Mmmm, golden brown cheesy perfection.

Creamy, cheesy goodness. :-)

The hubby knew it was dinner-time so he came and joined in all of the fun.

And gave me this weird look when he saw I was taking pictures of my food.  Get off my back,'s a blog thang! ;-)

Seriously, I love this casserole.  SO GOOD!

And it pairs well with crock pot french dip sandwiches.

Double yum!

If you decide to make this casserole, enjoy!! Change it up however you'd like.  Add in/take away spices, change up the cheese...whateva' you want man!

Happy Monday!!

Weekend To-Do List

This weekend, I plan on accomplishing these no particular order:

--Spend time with an amazing friend and her little girl
--Continue editing wedding/portrait sessions
--Photograph a beautiful October wedding
--Drink massive amounts of hot chocolate
--Put my feet up for a bit
--Wake myself up from my hot chocolate coma
--Take some Halloween pictures of R-Dub
--Continue drinking hot chocolate
--Fold laundry
--Spend TONS of time with my boys
--Watch some Halloween-esque these:

Halloween--classic stuff right there, yo.
Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers--because it's way more awesome than 2,4, and 5.  Notice I skipped #3.  Yeah, because that one is dumb...Michael Myers is not even involved. It involves a Halloween
mask company with plans to kill people by hiding something in the Halloween masks.....ok?
Hocus Pocus--gotta throw at least one family oriented movie in the mix...haha.  My friend and I were just talking about this one, and now I'm totally in the mood to watch it.

The Exorcist--this movie still rocks.

The Scream flicks--pretty good flicks for being a bit corny.

Poltergeist--One of my "horror" faves.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre--is it bad that I laugh my way through this one?

....just to name a few...

I think there may be some hot chocolate in my weekend forecast, but I can't be too sure of that right now.. ;-)

Happy Friday!! What are you all doing this weekend?!

It's Coming Along...and Some Thursday Thoughts....

I was hoping to unveil the new S & D Maurer Photography blog today, but, I ran into some issues last night, which turned into a huge nightmare.  I think all is well now, but it's still not ready to publish.

So, I will post some of our most recent sneak peeks on here for now.  :-)

First up are some pictures from our session with this adorable two year old.

Next up: a maternity session from this past weekend.  It was super fun, and the fall colors were gorgeous!

The daddy-to-be is a volunteer fire fighter.  That's pretty awesome in my book!

On Sunday, we had a senior session.  Word on the street is that this guy is a pretty awesome athlete. :-)

I'm guessing he's a Duke fan....haha :-)

Last, but certainly not least, we had an engagement session with this adorable couple.

I think this is my new favorite image.  :-)

The lighting was scrumptious.

There you have it, folks.  I'm hoping to have the new photography blog done VERY SOON!

And, because it's about some Thursday Thoughts?  Yeah man....I'm down!

I'm thinking of hosting a weekly link-up.  Maybe on Wednesdays...unless that's a particularly busy blogger link-up day.  I'm up for suggestions (or a link-up partner?!?!) I'm not sure the details yet, but I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in linking up with me?!  Let me know!!!

What is up with this warmer weather?  I was just getting used to the briskness of fall, and then I get turned upside down with this 80 degree crap.  I'm not a fan.  Especially in October.

I ran across this video of Ryder and Darren having a screaming match.  It definitely put a smile on face. :-)
Hilarious, right?!

I think that's all I'll bore you with today.   I know that's only three thoughts, but that's really all I can muster up today.  Happy Thursday, peeps!
