Thursday Night at the Park

After dinner last night, we decided to go out to the park to let Ryder exert some energy.  I just got my new lens in the mail yesterday, and I definitely wanted to try it out, so I decided to take a few pics of our park fun. :-)

He absolutely loves being on swings.

His expression kills me in this one.  He cracks me up.

Haha, love this one.  :-)

"Ok, yo, I've had about enough of this swing jazz...."

One of Darren's hobbies is yo-yoing (is 'yoing' a word?) and he's actually really awesome at it!!

Doing a trick called the 'UFO'

Mmmmm, sunset lighting. ;-)

'Ello there handsome :-)

At this point we were hot because it was so dang humid, and I think Darren was a bit tired from chasing Ryder around while I futzed with my camera.

The verdict on the lens?  LOVE!  It may be my new favorite, for the time being at least.

Happy Friday, peeps! :-)

Thursday Thoughts/Favorites

Happy Thursday, friends!  Linking up with Sar for Thursday Thoughts, and added in a few of my monthly favs since it's the end of the month (holy cow!).  :-)

:::one:::

Seriously folks, I love Amazon.  I don't think I've ever had a problem with them as far as ordering/returns, and I always find what I need.  Plus, no tax! I love me some Amazon.

:::two:::
This body wash smells amazing and feels amazing on my skin.  I have really dry skin, and it really has helped.  Love!

:::three:::

These were a staple for me at the beginning and middle of this month.  I love these because they are thicker milkshakes that are awesome for eating up with a spoon.  Try one, or six! ;-)

:::four:::
I have no more favorites to share.  However, I am super excited that the holiday weekend is upon us.  Today is actually my Friday, and I get to spend the next 4 days with my fellas.

:::five:::
I have so many things to do/packing to accomplish/homework to complete/editing to finish....but I really don't want to think about that right now.  It makes me tired.  So, I won't think about it for at least five minutes. ;-)

:::six:::
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day!! What plans do you all have?

G'bye, peeps!  Take it easy. :-)

Today, Something Happened....

Today, I turned into my husband.

You see, when Darren gets real hungry, he gets what we like to call 'the shakes.'  His hands shake if held out in front of him, and he starts to feel nauseous and just overall not well until he gets some grub.  I usually poke fun at him a little bit for this, because it's seriously a little comical.

Well......

Today, that happened to me.

That is all.

Happy Wednesday!

10 Day YOU Challenge: Eight Fears

Linking up with Lauren and Tiffany for the 10 Day You Challenge.  Today is eight fears.

:::one:::
Loss

I am terrified of losing the people closest to me and I love the most.  This fear seems to grow as I get older.  Lately, there has been a lot of loss in my community, and it just makes me incredibly sad and fearful of the future sometimes.

:::two:::
Spiders

This may seem juvenile, but I am TERRIFIED of these creepy crawly creatures.  It's rare that I build up enough courage to kill them myself.  Normally I'm screaming my head off and demanding that the hubby come in and take care of it for me.  Ick!

:::three:::
Intense Storms

I still freak out when the power goes out or when we are under certain weather advisories.  The sound of extremely loud thunder or the brightness of lightning still makes me jump out of my skin sometimes.

:::four:::
'Big' Objects

You know those big wind turbines that are slowly taking over the countryside?  Yeah, they freak me out.  Big, tall skyscrapers? Yeah, they freak me out a bit too.  Cruise ships?  Don't even get me started!  Pretty sure if I was face to face with a blue whale, I'd wet myself.  No lie.  I am not sure where this fear comes from; I don't really understand it myself.

:::five:::
The Dark

To this day, I still can't sleep in complete darkness.  I've never been able to.  I don't have a night light or anything, but, I do sleep with the TV on all night long.  I also have wallflower plug-in night lights that will light up our hallways a bit so I am never in complete darkness, unless the power goes out, in which case I hide under the covers.

:::six:::
Heights

I don't like heights at all.  I get freaked out when I am higher up than normal, even if it's just in a tall building.  I only fly on a plane when I am forced, and I would never be caught dead bungee jumping or sky-diving.  Kudos to those that can do these things; I'm just not one of 'em.

:::seven:::
Losing my wallet, phone, purse, etc....

Seriously, I have a lot of important things in my purse, phone and wallet.  My dayminder is in my purse, and there's no way I would keep everything straight if I lost it.  The thought of misplacing or losing these items terrifies me.  You may think I'm kidding....not at all.

:::eight:::
The Future/Unknown

The unknown definitely terrifies me.  I am a planner, and not being able to plan for everything the future will bring scares the beejeezus out of me.  I just want to be prepared for everything, even thought I know that's impossible in most cases.

There you have it folks; my eight fears.

Happy Tuesday!! :-)

I Just Knew It

Do you all remember this post?  If not, feel free to read it to get the entire back story about my dealings with The Perfect Tortilla.

Look what I found over the weekend:
Yup, that's right.  I snapped this pic of a whole crate full of Perfect Tortilla molds...in Wal-Mart.  I knew it....I just knew I should've waited for these things to be sold in stores.  Live and learn, I suppose.

In other news, I had a fantastic maternity session this past Saturday.  I LOVE how these turned out!

I just love them all!  I can't wait to go edit the rest. :-)

Happy Monday friends!

Babies!

Last Saturday I had a session with a little 3 month old. She really wasn't a happy camper, but I was able to get a couple of cute ones with her and her parents, and just a few of her alone.  I loved her littel ruffle outfit. :-)

Last night I had a session with a newborn baby girl.  She finished eating, and was wide awake and ready to go and wouldn't go to sleep, regardless of anything her mom and I tried.  It's not everyday I have a newborn awake for the entire thing! Since she was awake, posing her in different positions was basically out of the picture and darn near impossible.  It's hard when you have a wiggle worm. :-)  I am still in love with these pictures.  She is so stinkin' cute!

I also got a few cute ones of her and her big brother.  I am IN LOVE with this one!  I like it in color and B&W.  Which one do you guys prefer?

Or......

I love them both!  I can't wait to edit the rest of these. :-)

Happy Friday!  Have an awesome weekend, friends!

Thursday Thoughts

Linking up with Sar for Thursday Thoughts! :-)

:::one:::
I have been in a mood for the past couple of days.  Trying to stay positive has been increasingly weary and difficult.  I have a very short fuse and temper and I have had less of a 'mouth filter' lately.  A lot of word vomit has been surfacing. Ooops.

:::two:::
My color management course is going to strip me of all my sanity.  NOTHING is good enough for my professor.  I understand being particular, but there is such a thing as being a pain in the ass and nit-picky.  Gr.

:::three:::
Do you guys ever get those game requests on Facebook?  I do, and it drives me insane.  I was feeling particularly saucy this morning, and decided to post a status about it.  It said, and I quote: "I don't use Facebook to play games, nor have I ever played one...SO, if I get ONE more game request, I am seriously going to be making some changes to my list of friends ..."

I don't like being that way, but when I get 5 or 6 requests in the same day from the same person, enough is enough.  I know I can just ignore the request, but when it happens daily and multiple people are sending them, it's just a little frustrating.

:::four:::
I am sincerely sorry that this post seems like a vent post.  Like I said, I am in a mood lately.  I apologize, I really do.

:::five:::
I have a newborn/family session this evening, and I know for sure that seeing that little itty bitty baby will definitely perk me right up. Who doesn't love a newborn?!

:::six:::
We are going shopping for a new washer/dryer and fridge this weekend.  I love shopping for appliances, but I hate spending the cheddah' on them.

:::seven:::
This makes me feel better immediately.  Most of my negativity has left the building.  Just call me Elvis.

Heck yes!
This is from one of the worst movies EVER..."Nukie"....don't ask me why I've seen it...in it's entirety mind you.  I guess my movie passion is very much a genuine one.

Happy Thursday! ;-)

Fairbury Fair 2012

This past week was the Fairbury fair.  Please please, hold down your excitement folks! ;-)

The hubby and I ventured out there Friday night to hang out with some friends at the infamous beer tent...which I had never been to before.  It was nice to hang out with our friends, but I still say that the whole beer tent thing is really not my scene.  It got real crowded as the night drug on, and I got bumped into a lot.

Saturday afternoon we took Ryder out to the fair.  We all thought he would enjoy it this year....we were wrong.  If there was something worse than being wrong, that's what we would be.  All he wanted to do was run around, which he obviously couldn't do because there were so many people.  So, we had him strapped in his stroller most of the time.  He rode two rides, and played one game, and we only stayed for about 1.5-2 hours because that's all he could really take.  He enjoyed two things: the food, and the slide.  There's always next year.... :-)

Here are some pictures of the fair festivities....

What, was it bright out or something, Dar?  Or, are you just quinting because you were happy to see me? ;-)

His first glimpse at all of the fair madness.

Dad helped keep Ryder occupied for a majority of the fair visit.  We just had to keep on movin'.

This is when Ryder decided it would be fun to take off at a mad dash away from all of us.

My lil' man on the carousel.  He didn't like it much.

He loved this slide.

Hello camel!  Seriously, where else would you be able to look at a camel and then immediately go see a bunch of goats, all within 10 feet of eachother?!  The Fairbury fair, that's where!! Our fair is pretty fly like that.

See, here are the goats....chillin' right next door.

Look--a baby kangaroo!! So adorable.

A random turtle waltzing around with all of the goats. .....Ok?

Ryder liked looking at the animals from the outside.  We took him inside the petting zoo and he freaked out.  We're talking a full blown bawling fit.

Doesn't the name of this food establishment sound a bit dirty?  Maybe it's just me and my own filthy mind....

Hey look!  A random guy on stilts.  It's what every fair needs!

Happy Wednesday, and thanks for reading! :-)
