A Few Exciting Things

OK folks, hold on to your butts, things are about to get buck wild here!  I have a few exciting things to announce. :-)

:::Due to reaching 50 followers (ya'll ROCK) it is now giveaway time!  In a few days I will dedicate an entire post announcing how to enter, and what awesome shit is up for grabs.  Spread the word, tell your friends, get excited! :-)

:::Darren and I leave for Vegas next Wednesday!  This will be our second time venturing to sin city, and I can't wait to see the sites  gamble my ass off.

:::I have successfully lost a few lbs after rejoining Weight Watchers and getting a little more active.  I plan on starting to train for the 5k distance run in a few weeks.  The body jiggle will be-a bouncin', so, avert your eyes and take cover from the blubber if you see me running out and about.

:::S & D Maurer Photography has booked 10 weddings for 2013, and we have starting booking sessions well into this year.  All of the love and support everyone has shown almost has me in tears.  You are all amazeballs! :-)

:::Yesterday I did something bad ass.  I bought tickets to the NKOTB, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men concert in July!  So, be super jealous, because Jessie and I will be in boy band heaven come July 12th!

Happy Thursday, friends. :-)

Tuesday Topics: Six Memories

The Austin Family Diary
Linking up with Lauren and Tiffany for Tuesday Topics. :-)  Today's topic is six memories.

"This one time, at band camp..."

In High School, I was a band geek, loud and proud.  I was in color guard, jazz band, concert band, pep band, and the musical pit band.  I also auditioned to be a part of an all district band yearly, which was an awesome experience.  I look back on these times, and there are days when I really miss it all.  I'm so glad I was a part of it.

Our wedding day
It was such a beautiful day, full of love, fun and laughter.  :-)

It's a boy!
The birth of our son will always be one of my greatest memories.

Here's our sweet pea, less than 1 day old.

Here he is at two years old.  They get big quick, huh?  I still can't believe he's two!!

This may sound completely silly and ridiculous, but, discovering my passion for photography is SUCH a great memory of mine.  I am so happy and lucky to have found something I love to do!

I can't wait to make more memories with photoghraphy. :-)

What happens in Vegas....

Vegas was such a great trip! So great, in fact, that we're going there again next week!!!

Ryder's First Flight--see the full post HERE :-)

Seeing my dad's face light up when I said he could take Ryder up in the plane was such a priceless moment.

Such a fun topic!

Happy Tuesday, peeps. :-)

Well, There Ya' Go

I had an entire post written up, and then I deleted it.  I did this on purpose because evidently I'm a nut job.

Actually, I just wasn't feelin' it.  Ever get that way?

I've got nothin' up in my noggin' today. Womp womp womp.

Enjoy this video in my absence.

You're welcome.

Happy Friday, peeps.  Don't be like me; make your blogs interesting instead of big heaping pile of word crap like mine is today.

Random Thursday: If I Found $100 I Would....

Linking up with these lovely ladies for...

So, what would I do if I found $100?
If I found $100 laying on the ground, I would totally turn it in. :D

The end.

That's a lie.

Let's great real here; that's $100!  I get giddy whenever I found $5 on the ground., let along $100.  So, I would be sly about the whole thing.  I would glance around and make sure no one saw me pick up the loot, and then I would skip away merrily and spend it wisely.

And by wisely, I mean go on a mini shopping spree and buy crap I don't need at all.

Anyone else have an obsession with useless shit that is sold on TV and *never* sold in stores, even though it can be found at Bed, Bath and Beyond or on Amazon a few weeks later?  Yep, pretty sure that's what I'd buy.

Showtime Rotisserie anyone?  I've wanted one for YEARS!  Smuggling the vacated $100 off the street would totally help with this.  Word.

What about you guys?  What would you do if you found $100?

Well, That Was Pleasant

It only took me a little over a month and a half, but, I was able to get a few two year pictures taken of our little guy.

You know that Chex Mix Muddy Buddy stuff?  That's what we bribe him with to sit still for the camera.  Otherwise, he runs around like a crazy-ass, and the session is officially over.  We went through this for about an hour, and I was able to get a few decent ones.

I still don't understand with how many sessions I do with other kids, that I still can't get mine to cooperate for anything.

Pretty much in love with this one.

Yep, that's all I have so far.  In reality, I guess you only need a few good ones to print and hang up, so I think we're sittin' pretty right now.  I have an idea for some outdoor pics, but, we need to wait until the weather warms up a bit to do those.

Well, I'm off.  Have a great hump day! :-)

Tuesday Topics and a Jam Session

As I was perusing blog-land this morning, I noticed something wild.  There are a shit-ton of link-up paries on Tuesdays; I kid you not.  Take a peek for yourselves...a magnitude of linky fun. :-)  That's why today is a doozy of a post, including two different link-ups!  There's one I just couldn't pass up, and one that I never miss, so I had to participate in both.

Just call me a rockstar. ;-)

First up, linking up with Lauren and Tiffany for...

The Austin Family Diary
Today's topic is 7 people I'd like to meet.  {Warning: this list is geeky, and highly unlikely to occur, and I don't care.  Thanks. :D}

Johnny Depp-- Mr. Depp is one of my favorites actors.  He can portray so many different characters, and word on the street is he owns his own island, which is way cooler than owning your own yacht or something, right?

Chewbacca-- Pretty sure I'd pee myself if I met this dreamy furball.

Harry Potter and his crew-- I want to wield with a wand and muster up a bunch of powers.  Need I say more?

Big foot-- Seriously, how cool would it be to actually be the one to prove his/her/its existence? I'll tell you how cool...bad ass.

My blogger buddies-- How could I leave you all out?!  I wish we lived closer so we could meet face to face. :-)

Paula Dean-- She seems like such a sweet lady, and I'm sure she'd feed me boat loads of goodies containing mass quantities of butter.

The characters in LOTR (Lord of the Rings)-- Where else would you be able to have a dwarf, human, elf, wizard, and hobbit all in one place?  Yeah, that's right...Middle Earth, that's where.

Now, onto part two of this post, is a seriously awesome link-up idea, coming straight to you from the minds of Katie and Shauna...

thats my jam
Today is all about the boy bands, baby!

Backstreet Boys were an ultimate fave of mine.
Are you larger than life?

N'Sync was another doozie of a good time.
Try to watch this without laughing, I dare you.

Oh 98*, another one of my boy band loves.  That Nick Lachey can sing!
"It's all because of you."

And, of course, the ultimate boy band...NKOTB!
"Oh oh oh oh oh!"

I'm sure you're all movin' and groovin' in your seats.  My job here is done.

Buu-bye, friends.  Happy Tuesday!

For Moi

Lately, it seems I rarely get out to take pictures just to take pictures.  Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of photography, especially the business side, but once upon a time I would go out on the weekend for a few hours just to take pictures of landscapes/animals/nature/whatever the heck I felt like.

I haven't done this in about 6 months, possibly longer.  Shameful, I know, being a photographer I should do this more often, but, eh, life gets in the way sometimes all the damn time!

So, as I was driving home Friday, I glanced in my rear-view mirror and saw the most gorgeous sunset taking place.  This is the reason why I should get another camera just to take with me everywhere I go [ahem..hint hint hubby ;-)].  I hate missing out on moments like this.  I rushed home, unloaded my work crap and Ryder into the house with the hubby, and ran outside in the frigid wind and cold to get these pictures.

Disclaimer [silhouette pictures make my heart go pitter-pat]

Love--probably my favorite one.

I'm so glad I froze my ass off to get these shots.

Buh-bye beauties.  Happy Monday to you all! ;-)

Happies and Crappies

This new link-up for Fridays is pretty suuuweeeeet.  Plus, the name for it is pretty awesome, so there ya' go!  You all know how I love me a good let's get to it, shall we?

For the first time, linking up with Stephanie and Sarah for....

--The weather has been nice all week.  The sunshine is such a mood lifter!  I was listening to Elvis Duran the other morning, and he was reading off a study that declared January the most depressing month, but I think this nice weather has definitely helped my mood.

--I just announced that I will be hosting a giveaway on this blog when I reach 50 followers.  That's a major happy, for realz. ;-)  You guys are all awesome!

-- I didn't accidentally mismatch my socks this morning...yay for matching socks!

-- Our puppy Tanner (who now weights 48 pounds!! eek) went to the vet and got a clean bill of health.  The vet said they've never had a dog go from 5 lbs to 48 lbs in two months that wasn't fat.  That's hilarious to me....

-- I'm going to eat whatever I want this weekend.  That's the epitome of all happies.  'Nuff said.

--There is NO snow, which has been a crappie for the photography business.  I have some clients who scheduled sessions wanting snow, but we have to keep rescheduling until the weather decides to take a big snow dump onto Illinois.

-- Our puppy Tanner weights 48 lbs, meaning it's harder for me to lug him around.  He thinks he still weighs 5 lbs, and wants to be held.  He's the biggest baby you'll ever meet.  Pretty sure the hubby had to carry him into the vet this morning because he wouldn't walk in himself.

--I get a tad stressed out around tax time.  Money itself is a stressful thang, but add taxes to it and I'm a bear to deal with.  I try to not sweat the small stuff, but I think it's easier said than done.

Right on, folks.

Happy Friday!  Have a fabulous weekend. :-)

Adorable Gals...and a Surprise?!

Last weekend I had a session with an adorable girl and her mom.  It was a dreary day, but it actually worked in our favor.  With the outfit she was wearing, I had a vision for some photo ideas, and I really wanted to pull them off.  I think this little sweetie did such a great job! :-)

I love this one!  I really like the vintage effect it has!  Definitely one of my favorites from the session.

One of my favorites from the session.  So simple, but it has that same vintage feel as the other one. :-)

I had a session with some adorable kiddos this past Monday, so I'll be sharing those soon.

I was supposed to have a session this weekend with a senior who wanted snow in her pics, but we had to reschedule due to lack of snow.  HUGE bummer!  I have a few other sessions where the families want this is probably the only time you'll hear me begging for it!! ;-)

Well, I guess that's all for now....

Oh, wait, you want to hear the surprise?!  Are you sure....?

Ok, ok....

Well, I am super close to 50 followers (you guys all ROCK!!) so I've decided to celebrate!  Once this blog reaches 50 followers, I'll be hosting my very first blogger giveaway!!!!  A few of my favorite things will be included...definitely worth while! Those items will be revealed soon-ish.

So, spread the word and let's make this happen!! :-)

Happy Thursday!

Tuesday Topics: Eight TV Shows

The Austin Family Diary

Yay for Tuesday Topics with Lauren and Tiffany!  This week's topic is pretty awesome: eight TV shows.

I love TV...I'm pretty much a boob tube junkie.  I watch a lot of TV, therefore I have approximately 123234 shows I like, and listed below are eight shows that I completely adore.

I absolutely love Friends.  Every episode is hysterical.  "Joey doesn't share food!!"  Hahaha, hilarity at its finest, for shizzle.

The Big Bang Theory

Being a nerd myself, I adore this show.  The guy who plays Sheldon is seriously talented to remember all of those lines....

Dawson's Creek
Dawsons creek credits.jpg

An oldie but goodie right here.  What a great show!  I think we can all agree that Pacey was SO MUCH better than Dawson. :-)

Grey's Anatomy
The Grey's Anatomy Logo

Great show!   Although I think the show is coming to an end, it's still one that I never miss!

Glee title card.svg

I loved this show the first couple of seasons.  Even though it's lost some of its luster, in my opinion, I still watch it every week.

One Tree Hill
One Tree Hill original opening credits.jpg

I started watching this show in the past year or so and fell in love with it!  Even though I never watched it in its prime, it's still one of my favorites.  Thank goodness for Soapnet and Netflix! :-)

Gilmore Girls
Gilmore girls title screen.jpg

One of my absolute favorites!  The dialogue alone is amazing.... it's so unbelievably witty!  Fantastic show!

Beverly Hills 90210

Another reason why Soapnet kicks ass....they play 90210 every single weekend.  One question though: how can all of this crap happen to people barely in their twenties..not to mention all of the crap that happened while they were still in High School?!  For about drama. ;-)

Happy Tuesday, peeps.

First Session of 2013

I had my first session of 2013 on Wednesday, and it was such a great way to kick-off the new year!  This little girl was such a happy baby the entire time....I could have taken pictures of her for hours. :-)

Look at that sweet little face!

Did you notice her painted toe nails?  Adorable.

What a great start to 2013! :-)

I have so many wonderful sessions coming up that I can't wait to share with you all!  Bring it on 2013!

Happy Friday, friends.  Stay tuned for an exciting announcement coming your way sometime next week!
