Training Thursday.....?

So, I'm a loser at life and completely missed the Training Tuesday link-up, and then Wednesday arrived, but was gone at the speed of light, so, I guess today will be Training Thursday.

Last week was my first week going to the gym, and it actually felt pretty damn amazing.

Monday: First day on the dreaded 'mill.  Thought my lungs were going to burst.
Tuesday: I was expecting to be sore, but I felt really good.  Decided to have more treadmill fun. I hate that thing, but, I powered through.
Wednesday: I decided to try out the elliptical, and I actually enjoy it a lot more than the treadmill. 
Thursday: Elliptical.  Building up stamina sucks, but, I'm getting there!!  I also added in some weight training.  I felt great after that work out!
Friday: REST
Saturday: Elliptical and more strength training.  Again, I felt great afterwards! :-)
Sunday: REST

One of my goals for June was to work out 3-5 times per work, and I am so proud of myself for going 5 times my first week.  This week I'm hoping to make it 4-5 times, depending on what else we have going on.

This past Tuesday I had a bit of a meltdown.  Long story short, the scale is a bitch, and I concentrate too much on the numbers.  When they don't go down the way I want, I get discouraged and pissy.  Darren and my friend  reminded me that since I am strength training, I will be building up muscle as well, so, losing inches may be what I notice first.  I was still a grump-bag, but, I tried to get over it.

Yesterday I decided to just forget about the scale, so, I'm going to try not to weigh myself.  I've just gotta' remind myself that it doesn't matter what the scale matters how I feel.  Easier said than done, but, I'm trying.

So, all in all, I'm happy to report that things are going pretty well, except for my Tuesday troubles, but, I'm sure I'll have more days like that.  It's normal, right?!

Yayayayayayay! What a great first week at the gym! I'm with you -- elliptical is so much better than the treadmill! Treadmills make me feel so out of control because I can't slow down right when I want to, you know? I bet your husband is right -- probably the first thing you'll really notice is looser clothes!
