A long time ago...
in a galaxy far, far away....
I met Darren.
It was back in High School, but we were just buds then.
We stayed in touch once he graduated (he is a year older than me) and re-connected when I made the trek to college. We lived in the same apartment complex, so we saw each other often.
We decided being "just friends" wasn't enough. I mean, being BFF's was great, but I knew from the moment we got close as friends that I wanted more. He was great to talk to, an awesome listener, and really funny. Oh....and he's a total hunk in my eyes. :-)
We made the decision to date each other on December 24th, 2004. I knew once we started dating that he was "the one." It was like I instantly knew he was meant to be my husband.
Years went by and our love never faltered. We bickered, of course, but, I think that's healthy in any relationship.
He asked me to marry him on May 28th, 2007. That, up until our wedding day and the birth of our son, was the happiest day of my life.
We got married on October 18th, 2008. The day was absolutely beautiful!
Adjusting to being a 'married couple' was a sinch. Plus, it was awesome no longer being asked if I was related to Harry...seeing as my maiden name is Potter.
We soon decided we wanted to expand our family with more than just our fur babies (cats and the dog).
At the end of March in 2010, we found out we were expecting our first baby.
.....let the excitement, joy, and above all else, NERVOUS feelings kick in!!
The next 9 months flew by, and we were greeted by this
little BIG boy.
Ryder Wayne Maurer was born on 12/6/10 at 5:38pm.
He was 10lb 2oz, 21 inches long, and absolutely perfect!!
You can read his birth story here! :-)
Ryder was such a good baby, so getting accustomed to being a family of three was easy-peasy.
Seeing Darren and Ryder bond and play still makes my heart melt. It probably always will.
We tried to soak up time with our little man as much as possible...but you know how it is.
And pretty soon it's their first birthday and you can't even comprehend how you got here....
My family means the world to me, and you'll see all of them, and the extended family, in this blog quite a bit.
